Cathryn Papasodora

The Kentucky Wildcats rifle team won the NCAA Championships with the help of Northway’s Cat Papasodora.

The junior marksman shot a perfect score in one of her smallbore rounds and racked up 1,166 points in all as Kentucky edged top-ranked West Virginia by just nine points in Charleston, South Carolina.

Papasodora, of Eagle River High fame, was one of five Kentucky shooters to participate in the national championships.

She posted high scores of 588 out of 600 in the air rifle and 578 in the smallbore.

With Papasodora’s assistance, the Wildcats posted their second-highest smallbore score of the season and then shot 2372 in air rifle to combine for the team’s highest aggregate score of the season at 4717.

Kentucky last won the NCAA rifle title in 2011.
