Carlos Boozer

For the last 20 years, Juneau’s Carlos Boozer has proved over and over to be one of the game’s greatest post players of his generation.

The 6-foot-9 power forward was an all-star in high school, college and the NBA – and now the BIG3, too.

The 36-year-old with the Ghost Ballers finished his rookie season in the world’s premier 3-on-3 league among the leaders in points, field goals and rebounds.

His team struggled. He did not.

The Ghost Ballers won only one of the eight regular-season games and missed the playoffs, but you can’t blame Boozer.

He finished second with 77 rebounds, third with 48 field goals and sixth with 121 points.

His 16 rebounds in Week 4 were the highest single-game total this season.

Boozer, of Juneau-Douglas High fame, has scored more points on the basketball court than any other Alaskan throughout a career that stretches high school, college, the Olympics, the NBA, China and the BIG3.

He ranks first among Alaskans who played in the NBA with 13,976 points in 13 seasons with the Cavs, Jazz, Bulls and Lakers. He’s third among those who played at NCAA D1 level with 1,506 points in three seasons at Duke University.

The Alaska Sports Hall of Famer is also a two-time Olympic medalist, winning bronze in 2004 and gold in 2008.
