Katy Maddry

Racing in her first international competition, Kate Maddry of Wasilla captured a bronze medal in the women’s boardercross at the Para Snowboard World Cup in Canada.

She joined fellow American Brittani Coury on the podium as Team USA went first-third.

Maddry, Mat-Su Career & Tech High fame, earned 60 points toward qualifying for the 2022 Paralympic Games.

The 17-year-old had her right leg amputated when she was 9 because of a birth defect. A year later, she began snowboarding and was invited to join the race team at Challenge Alaska.
