Coby Marvin of Palmer is the Alaska Athlete of the Week.
Marvin, 16, won the only two medals for the U.S. at the Youth Skyrunning World Championships in L’Aquila, Italy.
Competing as one of the younger racers in the Youth B Division, Marvin claimed a silver medal in the Vertical Race by completing a 3.8-kilometer course with nearly 3,400 vertical feet of climbing in 41 minutes, 56 seconds.
He followed that up with 8th place in the 13K Sky Race. Those two combined results earned Marvin a bronze medal in the overall Youth B standings.

Other finalists included Matanuska Peak Challenge record-setters Meg Inokuma and Scott Patterson and Fairbanks middle school pole vaulter Micah Olsen.

The Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Monday.
