On a day where sideways rain and strong winds added an additional challenge to the hilly Kincaid course, the Chugiak Mustangs girls stormed to the win at the Big 8 Invite with a perfect team score (15 points), earning Alaska Athletes of the Week honors.
The Mustangs accomplished the rare feat after junior Alliyah Fields claimed the win in 19 minutes, 58 seconds, and Mustang teammates Skyler Belmear, Hannah Bodkin, Hannah Shaha and Emily Moore proceeded to take the next four places, separated by a mere 25 seconds.
The two-time defending state champions put seven runners in the top 11 (Petra Knox in 7th and Allison Macy in 11th) to seal their second consecutive team win of the season.
