Sophomore playmaker Cayden Pili was named our Alaska Athlete of the Week after putting the Dimond Lynx on his back to carry them to a 40-33 come-from-behind victory at Juneau to stay unbeaten in the Cook Inlet Conference.
Pili produced 316 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns, the last one putting Dimond ahead for good with just 3:52 to play.
The 5-foot-8, 135-pounder scored 30 of his team’s 40 points on four rushing scores and a trio of 2-point conversions.
Pili bounced back and forth between quarterback and halfback, amassing 163 rushing yards, 105 passing yards and 20 receiving yards.
He added a 5-yard interception return and 43-yard punt return in a do-it-all performance.
The Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Monday.
