Jack Green of Anchorage heated up the Binghamton Bearcats like a microwave Tuesday.
He provided instant offense in the second half with a goal and an assist in a 17-minute span – which in soccer is like hitting the popcorn setting.
Green’s takeover performance boosted Binghamton to a 3-1 win over St. Bonaventure in the team’s home debut in Vestal, New York.
“Having the home fans and people cheer for you, it’s a good feeling, and to get the win here, it was a much-needed win for us. It’s a great feeling,” Green told reporters.
This was Binghamton’s first victory after starting the season with three losses on the road.
Green is a grad student in his first season with the Binghamton team after playing the previous four years at American University in Washington, D.C.
In his first game with his new team, he assisted on a go-ahead goal in a 2-1 loss to William & Mary.
Three games later he bagged a three-point scoring night and delivered a game-winning goal, the fourth for the former West High star in 59 career appearances at the NCAA Division I level.
Green’s goal in the 63rd minute against St. Bonaventure put his team ahead 2-0. The former Gatorade Alaska Player of the Year cleaned up a loose ball right in front of the net for a gift goal.

The Bonnies pulled within 2-1 three minutes later, but Green’s playmaking skills led to another Binghamton goal in the 78th minute that sealed the win.
On this goal, Green blasted a left-footed laser on the break that the keeper just deflected. Teammate Markos Touroukis was there to put away the rebound.
“Before the game Coach Moon kept on saying, if we get one, we gotta get another one, we gotta keep on pushing and that’s exactly what we did,” Green said.
Green increased his career totals to seven goals and nine assists for 23 points.
