Anchorage football player Edefuan Ulofoshio was named our Alaska Athlete of the Week after coming up huge for the University of Washington Huskies in their biggest game of the season.
The starting linebacker recorded six tackles including three solo stops in a 34-31 victory over Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship game.
The former South High standout ranks second for the third-ranked Huskies this year in tackles (83), solo tackles (53) and tackles for loss (6) and moved past former Idaho linebacker Ed Hall of Eagle River for No. 3 on Alaska’s all-time tackles list among players at the NCAA Division I level.

Rosie Brennan – The Anchorage skier continued her strong season by helping lead the American women to the bronze medal in the World Cup 4×7.5-kilometer race.
- Pagan Lester – The Newhalen wrestler continued her outstanding season, pinning all three opponents to win the 120 lb. class at the Grace Grizzly Shakedown.
Isaiah Moses – The UC Riverside sophomore guard dropped 21 points on UCLA in Thursday’s 66-65 loss at the famous Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Alissa Pili – The Utah forward from Anchorage knocked down a career-high five 3-pointers in an 87-68 victory over BYU, becoming the third NCAA women’s basketball player from Alaska to reach the 1,600-point and 600-rebound benchmarks.
Jeremy Swayman – The Boston Bruins goaltender from Anchorage stopped a combined 50 of 51 shots in a 3-0 win over the San Jose Sharks and 3-1 win over Columbus, elevating his season record to 9-1-2.
Tony Tomsich – The Fairbanks native came heartbreakingly close to qualifying for his 2nd straight US Olympian Marathon Trials on Sunday in Valencia, Spain. Tomsich ran 26.2 miles in a blistering 2 hours, 18 minutes and 10 seconds, missing the 2:18:00 qualifying time by just 10 seconds.
Sadie Tuckwood – The Gonzaga junior from Juneau ran the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville 5000m in 16 minutes, 55 seconds to obliterate her previous best by 40 seconds. Tuckwood now ranks fourth in program history and eighth all-time among known Alaskan performers.
