In an eight-day span, the Boston Bruins’ Jeremy Swayman made four starts and five appearances, and went unbeaten in regulation (2-0-3), a performance earning the Anchorage goaltender our Alaska Athlete of the Week honors.
The 25-year-old also was named to the NHL All-Star Game lineup in a vote of fans and capped his hectic eight days — four of his five appearances came on the road — with 31 saves Monday in a 3-0 home win over New Jersey to pocket his 12th career shutout and third this season.
In those five appearances, Swayman compiled a 2.18 goals-against average and .922 save percentage.

Trent Burnham – The junior goaltender for Lindenwood University stopped 51 shots Saturday night to spark the Lions to a 3-3 tie at No. 3 Wisconsin. The Eagle River native this season has faced more shots (810) than any masked man in NCAA Division I hockey. Paul Dittrich – The West High junior supplied two points in Friday’s 4-3 victory over South. He also furnished a goal and three assists in Saturday’s 8-0 dismantling of Dimond.- Vebjorn Flagstad – The South High sophomore won the East Side Freestyle high school nordic ski race at the Bartlett High Trails with a time of 11 minutes, 15.2 seconds.
Kendall Kramer – The UAF skier from Fairbanks bagged a pair of wins at the Utah Invitational, helping the Nanooks to a fourth-place finish and edged Utah for the top Nordic women’s team finish. Jamari Sims – The 5-foot-9 West Valley High School point guard poured in 25 points in a semifinal win and directed the offense to a season-high 79 points in a title game win over Juneau-Douglas to win MVP honors at the Alaska Prep Shootout.- Elias Soule, John Lohuis, Noa Kam-Magruder, Haley Finch – The Anchorage biathletes were all named to the Team USA.
Soule, Lohuis, Kam-Mgruder will compete at the Youth Olympic Games in Korea . Finch will compete in the European Jr Championships in Poland. Jaron Williams – The UAA men’s basketball player from Anchorage bagged 10 points, five assists and three steals, and made the defensive play of the game to key a 71-68 win over Northwest Nazarene.
