Looks like this poker thing is going to work out for Adam Hendrix.
After winning about $2 million in live earnings in 2023, the pro from Anchorage last Friday achieved a career goal by winning his first World Series of Poker Circuit ring. He also won $73,579 when he beat 80 other players in the $3,300 High Roller No-Limit Hold ‘Em event at the Horseshoe Las Vegas in Nevada.
Doesn’t seem like Hendrix is likely to go back to his previous work as a software engineer.
Hendrix outlasted Jeremy Becker in a heads-up battle that lasted four hours and required Hendrix to go all-in multiple times. The victory pushed Hendrix’s live winnings this year to $335,050, according to poker.db.thehendonmob.com
The win also marked Hendrix’s sixth top-10 finish in 2024. His largest cash of the year came on Feb. 22, when he walked away with $107K for his fifth-place finish in the $1,700 No-Limit Main Event at a World Series of Poker Circuit tournament in North Carolina.
Now that Hendrix has secured the ring that WSOP Circuit event winners receive, his next goal is the coveted bracelet each event winner receives at the annual World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The WSOP is the largest, most lucrative tournament in poker, lasts nearly two months and features about 100 events. The 2024 WSOP runs May 28-July 17.
Hendrix’s victory also earned him a seat in the WSOP’s 2024 Tournament of Champions in Los Angeles in May.
At the WSOP in Las Vegas last year, Hendrix cashed in 15 different tournaments for a combined $726K. In the 2022 WSOP, he cashed 14 times for $317K.
With his $6.2 million in career live earnings and nearly $1 million in online earnings, thehendonmob.com puts Hendrix’s combined career earnings north of $7 million.
