Anchorage hockey player Clair DeGeorge ended her stellar college hockey career with an NCAA national championship and Alaska Athlete of the Week honors.
The 22-year-old center scored a goal and assisted on another to help Ohio State’s 3-2 win the women’s D1 title game over Minnesota-Duluth.
DeGeorge’s second period goal gave Ohio State a 1-0 lead. She scored the third-period goal that restored the Buckeyes’ lead at 3-2.
Her two points Sunday pushed her past Kerry Weiland of Palmer (1999-2003, 124 career points). She finishes her collegiate career No. 3 among Alaska’s all-time women’s scorers. In 166 games, DeGeorge delivered 44-81—125 totals.
DeGeorge especially shined in the postseason. She scored two goals including the game-winner in a double OT quarterfinal win over Quinnipiac.
The Alaska Athlete of the Week is selected by a panel each Monday.
