David Elliott and Brendan Heck starred on Colony High’s 2023 state championship soccer team. Six months later, the dynamic duo is making an impact as teammates on the collegiate pitch.
Elliott of Palmer turned in his best performance of his young career at Tacoma Community College Saturday night in leading Titans to a 2-1 win over Clark College.
The 2023 Alaska Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year accounted for both of TCC’s goals in the comeback win, scoring the equalizer in the 43rd minute and then the game-winner unassisted in the 62nd minute.
A scoring machine on the Knights title team, it hasn’t taken the speedy playmaker long to adjust to the college game.
After going scoreless in his first eight games, Elliott has delivered at least one point in five of the last six for Tacoma. The Titans have gone 5-1 over those six games to improve their season record to 8-5-2 and 8-3-1 in the Northwest Athletic Conference.
Elliott has three goals and three assists on the season.
Another star of Colony’s state championship squad, goalkeeper Brendan Heck, is also turning in a solid freshman campaign at Tacoma.
The Wasilla native shares keeping duties with an upperclassman but has made the most of his opportunities, registering two shutouts in four starts.
The rangy keeper owns a respectable 1.78 goals against average in over 400 minutes of play this season.
The Colony tandem made their presence known in a 6-0 win over Centralia College on October 4th when Heck kept the Titans’ net clean, while Elliott contributed an assist.
